The Historic Chapel Restoration

The restoration of the Historic Chapel was a complex and multifaceted project that required careful attention to both historical preservation and modern construction techniques. As the Owner's Representative, the focus was on ensuring the selection of the best team of architects, contractors, and specialists, coordinating efforts to achieve project success. This involvement ensured the highest standards of craftsmanship, clear communication, and adherence to project timelines and budget, ultimately delivering a restored chapel that blends historical integrity with long-term sustainability.
High School Project - Harlem
(Legacy Project)
New 76,000 SF educational complex was a transformative project that significantly enhanced the academic infrastructure of East Harlem. The facility, designed to serve both as a high school and a gateway to higher education, incorporates advanced construction techniques such as drilled micro piles and a striking two-story, 90-foot structural steel truss. As the Owner's Representative, crucial responsibilities included helping secure the necessary loan for the client by working closely with funders, managing the project’s schedule and budget, lender reporting, coordination between the design team and the contractor. This oversight ensured that the project was completed to the highest standards.
Leadership
Mary is a construction and project management leader with extensive experience delivering complex projects across residential, commercial, institutional, and educational sectors.
She began her career as a Project Engineer with Gilbane Building Company, gaining hands-on experience in scheduling, estimating, quality control, procurement, and safety, and advanced to Project Manager at Hunter Roberts Construction Group, managing high-profile multi-million-dollar construction projects including high-rise residential buildings, hotels, and institutional facilities. From 2016 to 2024, Mary served as Director of Project Management and ultimately Principal at About the Work, LLC, where she led multiple Owner’s Representative projects, including schools, historic restorations, and large-scale institutional developments, while developing companywide budgeting and project controls and mentoring project teams.
In addition to project delivery, she provides executive consulting to organizations, helping firms implement scalable project management frameworks, optimize workflows, and improve financial performance through budgeting, profit and loss analysis, and operational oversight.
Today, through Convey Construction Consulting, Mary leverages her dual perspective as both a builder and owner’s representative to help clients and organizations successfully execute projects while maximizing cost, schedule, quality, and profitability.
